Zandra Gay – Featured Fabulous Female (plus bonus Stella & Dot fall preview!)

Fanfab met Zandra Gay through a mutual friend, Mary Coleman Lynn, Featured Fabulous Female in July I have the utmost respect for Zandra, as she is truly embodies what a fabulous female is! She has taken her Stella & Dot business to amazing places, earning her a leadership role in the company. She currently has team of over 700 women. And, she is doing most of this while her 3 children are in school. Zandra is the perfect example of someone who has taken advantage of the opportunity of Stella & Dot offers to stay-at-home moms. Who says that business has to take place in an office or boardroom? She is always looking to grow her team, so please get in touch if you have any interest at all at joining Stella & Dot  It is the perfect time to get started, as the kids are in school, summer fun is over, and holiday shopping season will be here before you know it.  And, trust me, you want to be on her team because Zandra is a dynamo!

What do you do in your business? (in a nutshell)

I am an independent stylist for Stella & Dot doing trunk shows in homes and offices. Yet, after 3 1/2 years with the company I’ve grown to be a Star Director & Founding Leader for S&D, mentoring and training a large team of incredible stylists all over the US, Puerto Rico, UK and Germany. So not only are the trunk shows a ton of fun where my hostesses invite their friends into their homes to share the fun and style, but I also lead my team to great success through training, coaching and hard work. I never thought I’d find a career this fun, flexible or lucrative and I thank myself every day I joined this booming and empowering company that is truly “just at the beginning.” I adore my team and love watching so many ladies hit their goals and achieve great things for themselves and their family. Stella & Dot is true happiness! It delights our customers through incredible jewelry and accessories and brings extreme joy to our incredible family of stylists who I consider now friendships of a lifetime….

What is your guilty pleasure?

What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt? (stolen from the Actor’s Studio questionnaire)

I love to cook, so I would love to be a chef.  Preferably, in Italy!

What advice would you give your 25 year old self?

Don’t live anywhere you don’t love and don’t work any place you don’t love. You only live once.

What is something about yourself that you hope will change, but probably never will?

That I’ll go back to tradition and write proper thank you notes by hand on stationary instead of my paperless post or email.

Where are you in your family birth order? Do you think it has affected you?

I’m the youngest of 4. Yes, I used to think it took a bit of self confidence away as my family spoke for me most of the time. At least I thought that! But, then I was known as the person “that spoke the least yet said the most” so I guess it was not a bad thing.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?

Anywhere with a beach!  But, if I could go anywhere tomorrow it would be back to Santorini, Greece.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I spent years on the ice rink, and it was one of my very favorite sports growing up so I could do some pretty fun jumps and spins back then, and maybe now if I really got back out there? That would be interesting, actually!

Tell us about an interesting (or not so interesting!) job you had in high school or college?

I was a college intern in the Accessories division at Calvin Klein’s NYC Corporate office. My boss at the time had daily meetings with Calvin himself, for which I had to take notes and help set up his product displays.  Considering I was a fashion enthusiast back then (and still am) that was pretty thrilling for me.

What book is on your nightstand or currently in your /iBooks/Kindle library?

I just finished “Unbroken” – wow!!  Now that is a story of mental strength. About to start “Gone Girl” – have been wanting to read that for a while.

As a side note, while working on the interview, Fanfab couldn’t help but drool over some of the new S&D fall goodies. The gold/diamond Christina link bracelet looks like a million dollars, and is only $49!

Also loving the Seychelles Chandeliers. They are gorgeous and elegant for a night out, but Fanfab also thinks they would also be great for every day, worn with white denim and a white tee, or simple jeans and a t-shirt.

And, of course, how could I not love the elephant pouf (have I mentioned my elephant obsession?!)
